Deployment Journal/Blog Week 8

Well, I suppose some of you must be praying for me to grow in my faith and strength, because the Lord has been giving me plenty of opportunities for it. After I tell you a couple short stories, you’ll understand why I just want you to pray for an easy time for me while Earl is away…just kidding(kind-of).

Most of you who get on facebook already know about last week’s major incident…a 42″ LCD TV that cost $1,400 last fall is now absolutely useless, unless you just want to LISTEN to TV or the Wii games. My sweet, sweet baby boy let go of his plastic sword mid-swing, and left a nice impact mark on the LCD panel. I called my renter’s insurance and it’s not covered-but don’t worry, I’m not bitter or anything. 🙂

So, I have gotten used to the fact that I’m going to wait and buy a new TV until my credit card I should have never used is paid off, and then today, what do I hear? A very weird noise coming from my dryer! Now, I’m not certain that it’s dying, but I think I can see that it’s very sick and weak. So, now I’m paying off a credit card I never should have used, probably buying a new dryer and buying a new TV. I guess on the positive side, these things would have happened even if Earl were home…

Most of you may also know that I’m going to be in my church Christmas play and rehearsals start Monday evening. I’m excited because I haven’t been in a play since middle school and I really enjoyed it, and I’m nervous because of the lines to memorize and the fact that I don’t want to make a fool out of myself! I’m planning on Hannah helping me memorize by reading the other parts while I practice. She’s also going to help keep an eye on Isaiah at rehearsal-so please say an extra prayer for her.

Speaking of praying for Hannah, I have something weighing on my heart I want to share. There are a few girls in Hannah’s class that are giving her a rough time-teasing her and calling her names. It breaks my heart to hear these stories and also makes me mad. She is the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet and I know she’s an easy target because of her naive nature and joy for life. These hateful girls are trying to bring her down and I’m really trying to help Hannah see that it’s their own issues making them do this-not her at all. Self-esteem is a fragile thing in a girl’s life, and I want Hannah to feel good about herself. Anyway, sorry to be a “Debbie Downer,” but this is my journal and I do want to ‘keep it real.’ So, all of you who usually send me a comment or a note, will you please direct it toward Hannah this time? Maybe a funny story about her or a memory of her or just about how awesome she is! Thanks so much for your help because right now, I feel a little helpless.

Well, I know I didn’t make you laugh this week-but I haven’t done too much laughing myself, so we’ll all just be meloncholy together. I love the Lord and I know He hasn’t given me, Hannah or any of us anything we can’t handle. So, my prayer is, “One day at a time, sweet Jesus!”

Please pray for Earl, who is on a trip this week. I haven’t heard from him since Sunday evening-and probably won’t until at least Saturday evening. I love you all so, so much! I appreciate your prayers and support more than you know! God bless you this week!I can’t believe how my little girl has turned into a beautiful young woman!

Wow, rough couple of weeks! I’ll be praying for you and Hannah! Hang in there Hannah, you’re a beautiful young lady and these mean girls at school are jealous of what a great and amazing person you are. Hold your head up high and just enjoy your life God gave you the compassion and intellegence to see what these girls are doing is wrong and he’s counting on you to love yourself and be kind to those around you. Try to surround yourself with positive friends and don’t worry about these silly girls- they’re most probably very unhappy and try to bring others down to feel bad to but you’re to smart for that!!See More

Hannah you are a Rock Star! I love having you in my SS class and in AWANA’s. It will be OK! Remember your lesson from last night!? That applies here too. I know hearing it’s OK from adult does not always make it better. Lexus gets razed at school for being a Christian and for being smart. It sometimes is hard for her too. Hope your coming to the Lock In on Friday! That will give you a chance to have one on one with Lexus and you guys can compare note and share ideas on how to deal with it and to handle it next time your picked on. I will keep you and your family in my prayers!See More

Hannah, you are a beautiful, beautiful girl. Inside and out! Just look at your picture, you are so pretty. Girls your age can be so mean toward each other. Try to surround yourself with girls and boys that are nice to you. Girls that are mean to you usually have low self esteem and lash out at others to make them feel bigger about themselves. It’s very rough at your age. Stay close with your mom and share your feelings with her always. Mark and Bella miss you, they looked up to you 🙂See More

Hannah AKA “pretty gril”!! (Ellie told me so). We love you so much and want you to know that you are the brightest girl we know and for your age you are so brilliant. I know how mean people can be at your age and we all mean it when we say that people that are rude to you and can cause you pain are just not happy people and are certainly not worth worrying about. Surround yourself with friends that make you smile and that you have fun with and toss the others out!! I heard somewhere that “what people think of you is none of your business”. Say that again and again and it will soon make alot of sense. Keep smiling, keep laughing and just know that you are better than those mean girls and they can’t compete with you!See More

Hannah, I’ll never forget the first time I met you. When we arrived at McChord and were getting out of our car with Heidi and Wyatt, you came up to me, shook my hand and introduced yourself. I was SO IMPRESSED. I told Heidi that I had never met such a sweet, polite, respectful girl of your age. WOW, I would be so proud to have a granddaughter like you. Just take one day at a time, Hannah, I know it’s hard to see now, but it will get better. I love and miss you,

P.S. Kathy, being the mother of a girl growing up can be so painful. You are handling it beautifully. Love you.See More

Hannah is awesome- very polite and sweet. She is mature for her age and that has alot to do with you Kathy- good job. Hannah needs to focus on her and not on some little ho’s messing with her. They are not worth Hannah’s time and the best advice for Hannah is completely ignore them and not take to heart what they say. They will stop when they see it doesn’t bother or phase Hannah. It’s easier said than done but stay strong. If that doesn’t work do you want my kids to wait out side the school yard and rough them up a bit? 😉See More

Hi, Hannah! It is Mimi. My heart is broken for all the children that are the targets of mean kids and bullies, but my heart is especially broken for you, my precious granddaughter. When your mommie shared with me last week about the struggles you were having at school, I immediately went to the Lord and tried to figure out how I should pray for you. This is how I have been praying: “Jesus, I pray today for Hannah as she goes to school and has to face mean people who are insecure within themselves and feel they have to hurt others to make themselves feel better. I pray that you would give Hannah strength and courage to hold her head high. I pray that any negative remarks would just “slide off her back” and be forgotten. Please help Hannah to go to You for help in her time of need. Remind Hannah of how special she is to You, to her family and to all the many wonderful friends You have given her. Amen.” I love you, Hannah and am proud of you!See More

    • Melissa Clay Worthy Hannah keep smiling and ignore those mean girls. Remember that people talked about Jesus, and if they talk about you, you have to trust Jesus to fix it. Depend on God to help you, and please know that you are being prayed for all the time.

Kathy remember the race is not given to the swift but to those who endure to the end.

    • Julia E. Clay-Hamm Kathy! Hang in there young lady! You are so right, these things would have happened even if Earl were home. Just magnifies a bit because you’re dealing with it by yourself. BUT you handle it well! Remind me to tell you how Earl and Melissa helped me get over broken stuff and “mystery” breakdowns of equipment! :0)

    • Susie Cooke James Wow, how wonderful to have so many people love and support you, Kathy, Hannah, Brianna and Isaiah. I have a friend whose son is dealing with bullies and the effects it has left on his young life. I don’t think he has had the support like I see here. God is good, all the time, God is good!

I just wanted to say that it’s dreadfully hard to be one of us beautiful, talented, intelligent girls…we constantly have to put up with those who wish they were us! 😀 Embrace yourself and your uniqueness…others will come around and learn to love you as it’s so obvious everyone here does!!!
